After a Death
After someone dies, families may need help understanding where estate administration begins and who is expected to act. Compass Fiduciary Group considers probate estate administration and personal representative matters in Phoenix and Maricopa County, as well as successor trustee roles when a trust is involved.
Identify the role before beginning administration
People may use the term executor when asking about estate administration. In Arizona matters, you may also encounter the term personal representative. Tell us what documents or court papers exist and whether someone has already been appointed. An initial inquiry does not authorize Compass to take control of property or begin acting for an estate.
Practical concerns to discuss
Estate administration inquiries may involve records, property security, bills, creditor correspondence, financial accounts, and communication with family members or professional advisers. We can discuss the administrative needs and information required to evaluate the matter. Questions about probate requirements, deadlines, ownership, or legal rights belong with probate counsel.
Prepare for your first conversation
- The decedent’s name and the county connected to the matter.
- Your relationship to the estate and contact information.
- Whether a will, trust, or court appointment is available.
- Any attorney involved and known court dates or urgent property concerns.
- A general overview of assets and records, without full account numbers.
Estate or trust?
If a trust is involved, successor trustee administration may be part of the discussion. If the matter concerns a probate estate, a personal representative role may be relevant. Your attorney can explain the legal path; Compass can evaluate the proposed fiduciary responsibilities.
Take the next step
Explore probate estate administration or trust administration, then contact our Phoenix office. Mention time-sensitive notices or deadlines promptly; submitting an online inquiry does not extend a deadline or guarantee immediate assistance.
