Guardianship Services

Compass Fiduciary Group, LLC provides guardianship services, with attention to the individual’s care, living arrangements, and quality of life.

Care And Coordination

As guardian, Compass coordinates care in accordance with the appointment and the individual’s needs. Our work includes monitoring health directives and medication, arranging and maintaining room and board, and preparing the Annual Report of Guardian.

Exceptionally Selective Guardianship Appointments

Compass Fiduciary Group accepts only a very limited number of temporary and ongoing guardianship appointments. We maintain exceptionally selective acceptance standards because our approach requires substantial personal involvement, careful attention to detail, and sustained engagement with the circumstances of each individual we serve. We reserve our guardianship capacity for matters in which our level of involvement and style of administration are particularly well suited to the individual's needs.

Our guardianship practice is thorough, hands-on, and highly engaged. We seek a meaningful understanding of the person's care, living arrangements, support system, and the financial resources available to meet their needs. This approach requires cooperation, transparency, and consistent communication among the professionals and other parties involved.

Most proposed guardianship appointments will not meet our acceptance requirements. Every inquiry is subject to an in-depth vetting process and direct review by our principal and ownership. Meeting our preliminary criteria does not assure acceptance; any appointment must also align with our capacity to provide the attention and ongoing involvement the matter requires.

Trustee-Referred and Trust-Funded Guardianships

We have significant additional requirements for proposed guardianships referred by a trustee or for which our services would be paid from trust assets. When a trustee or another appointed third party manages funds for the person under our guardianship, financial transparency is a fundamental expectation of our involvement.

Our review requires complete governing trust documents, including all amendments and restatements, so we can understand the provisions affecting the individual's care, support, and access to resources. We also require ongoing financial statements and cooperation in addressing questions concerning the administration and use of funds held for that individual's benefit.

These requirements extend beyond the initial referral or appointment. Our engaged approach depends on continued access to relevant information, allowing us to understand how available resources support the individual's needs and to identify concerns that may warrant further discussion or action within our role as guardian. The involvement of a separate trustee or financial administrator does not diminish our expectation of transparency.

A willingness to meet these document, reporting, and communication requirements is essential to our consideration of a proposed matter and our ability to serve effectively. Arrangements that do not accommodate this level of engagement are generally not a fit for our office.

Discussing a Proposed Appointment

Please contact us directly regarding any proposed temporary or ongoing guardianship. Our principal and ownership will review the circumstances, anticipated responsibilities, and proposed working relationships before indicating whether the matter is one our office would be interested in accepting.

We recognize that a matter outside our acceptance criteria may still be well suited to another professional's practice. When our office is not the right fit, we are happy to suggest other trusted fiduciaries in the area, including professionals our leadership had the privilege of working for earlier in their careers.
